VELUX proud to continue partnership with UK’s Housing Design Awards

2nd August 2024 — VELUX is delighted to announce its continued support for the Housing Design Awards, marking the fifth consecutive year of partnership since 2020. The Housing Design Awards were established by the UK government in 1948, the same year the NHS was launched, to emphasise the vital link between good housing design and public health. This heritage resonates strongly with VELUX’s vision of promoting healthy homes through innovative design.

Richard Williams, Senior Architect Development Manager at VELUX, stated: “Our partnership with the Housing Design Awards reflects our commitment to fostering healthy and sustainable living environments. Good design is at the heart of both VELUX and the Housing Design Awards, and we are proud to support an initiative that recognises projects making a real difference to people’s lives.”

The Housing Design Awards are run by Design For Homes, a social enterprise that provides support and consultancy services to the building industry.

David Birkbeck, CEO of Design for Homes, added: ”the VELUX support has been instrumental in helping us uphold the integrity and impact of the Housing Design Awards. Their dedication to quality and health aligns perfectly with the values we champion in the awards.”

The Housing Design Awards continue to be a unique fixture in the UK, backed by the government and major housing and professional institutes. Unlike many other awards, the judges physically visit each project to ensure the highest standards are met, underscoring the rigorous evaluation process. This year, 180 projects were submitted, with nearly 50 schemes shortlisted. The winners will be announced on 12 September 2024.
